Ultrapure water is treated to remove virtually all contaminants – dissolved salts, organics, particles, bacteria, and gases – achieving resistivity levels approaching 18.2 MΩ·cm and extremely low TOC levels. Our typical UPW treatment process includes:
- Pre-treatment – Multi-media filtration and activated carbon systems to remove sediments and organics.
- Reverse Osmosis (RO) – For removal of dissolved solids and impurities.
- Ion Exchange / EDI – Mixed-bed polishing or continuous electro-deionisation for ultra-low conductivity.
- Ultrafiltration (UF) – To remove colloids, fine particles, and microorganisms.
- UV Oxidation – TOC UV units to break down trace organics and germicidal UV units provide microbial control.
- Final Filtration – High-purity filters, down to less than 0.1 micron for final polishing.
Each Barr + Wray UPW system can be equipped with continuous online monitoring of key parameters such as resistivity, and TOC, ensuring water quality remains within the strictest specifications.
